Women hit the green
Tuesday 20 May, 2008 12:01am
THE ladies of Muirfield Golf Club at North Rocks raised $6000 for charity at their annual fundraising event last week.
Players came from all over Sydney, with 147 teeing off in teams of four and 155 attending the lunch.
The Muirfield women will channel this year's proceeds to Breast Cancer Research and United Care Burnside, which cares for families under stress and women in dire straits.
The women's president Dianne Stelzer said she was delighted with the roll-up and the amount that was raised.
"With all the rain at the beginning of the year, our fundfraising got off to a very slow start. Sometimes there were hardly any members playing at the weekends," she said.
"However, everyone has worked very hard over the past couple of weeks and we have done very well in the end.
"And the weather was perfect on the day."
A considerable amount of money was raised from the sponsorship of the holes for the event.
Prizes were donated by North Rocks Westfield, Doyles and many others.
An afternoon tea at the Barracks at Mosman was raffled among those who landed on the ninth hole.
