HILLS Hornets Basketball Club player Kate Oliver has been selected in the Australian under-19s women's team to play Chinese Taipei before touring France in June.
A 17-player squad was assembled in Newcastle on May 8 for a training camp before the squad was whittled to 12 players.
The squad will first tackle the Chinese Taipei senior team in Canberra this week before departing for a tour of France in June.
Both events mark part of the build up to the World U19 Championships in 2009. Of the squad Ebzery and Gaze will be backing up after they were part of the 2007 team which finished fifth.
In 2007, Oliver helped NSW Girls secondary schools team grab the silver medal at the Australian All-Schools Championships in Cairns last month.
The NSW Girls' team had a fabulous run through the tournament, defeating all states except Queensland, which won both the boys and girls national titles.
Oliver finished with the personal statistics of 65 points, 21 boards, two assists, three blocked shots and two steals.
